I remember telling a friend of mine, after completing the 2014 Boston Marathon, that I was going to miss my blog, miss writing about my training, my inspiration, and everything that comes with marathon training. Well, looks like I've solved that problem. I am excited, nervous, and honored to be running the NYC Marathon in support of Boston Children's Hospital, a haven of comfort and security that has taken amazing care of my precious nephew, Mikey, since before he was even born.

My GHF Team |
There are a lot of things about this new adventure that scare me. Though I know I can always count on my coaches for advice when I need it, I won't be training weekly with Rick, Greg, and Paul. In my mind, training starts with an informational pep talk in Newton, followed by a training run that inevitably includes those damn Newton Hills. I will also be without my GHF teammates, and I credit them whole-heartedly for getting me from the start of training to the Finish Line. Training for NYC will be markedly different, training closer to home and running the majority of my miles alone. What I feel in heart, however, is that everything they gave me from January through April and beyond, has built me up to a point where I can do this, and do it well, even if they aren't there every step of the way. Erin, Adam, Ashley, Kevin, and Lisa...you all turned me into a marathoner, and I hope you'll be cheering me on as I conquer the streets of NYC!
First-class Coaching Staff |
Training for NYC doesn't officially begin until the end of June, but I've been running since my knee healed from Boston, and I've got some 5K and 10K races on the horizon with my daughter to look forward to in the next few weeks. I've got some goals in mind, and as training continues, I'll share them here, along with my progress toward meeting them.
I'll also be sharing some inspiring stories about my little Mikey and the experiences he has had with some of the best doctors in the world. I love that kid more than words can express, though I'll try, and I bet you will, too, when this journey is over!

Much love,
